NEW Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Liquid Lipstick Set Review

Each holiday season brands put out numerous holiday gift sets and make it seem like it’s a “deal” or a special that comes around once a year. It leaves many of us wondering, is it a gimmick and is it really worth it?? Well today I am putting one holiday collection to the test! I gave in and purchased the Anastasia Beverly Hills Holiday Mini Liquid Lipstick Trio. I have ALWAYS wanted to purchase ABH liquid lipsticks but haven’t wanted to throw down the money. I’ve known people to swatch them and the swatch is still on their hand the next day… and that’s AFTER showering. Or so they claim, hahaa. Just kidding.

Anywayyyyyy

ABH is known for their liquid lipstick formula consistency and brilliance. Everyone I know is obsessed with them. I’m so fortunate I got a steal, 3 mini liquid lipsticks for $25. Some may not think this is a steal but however, I think it will be. & this is why…..

First off you only need to take the brush out once to get full pigmentation and the formula is long lasting so all you need is one swipe for the whole day. Secondly, the application was sooo easy! The shade bittersweet (my favorite) is a hard formula to master, it’s described as a “Swiss chocolate” but to me has a slight purple/burgundy undertone. This happens to be my favorite lipstick color in general, most lipsticks this color do not have a consistent formula, this, however, was not patchy at all! No second coat was needed as well.

Time to break down what you actually get!

You receive 3 miniature liquid lipsticks that contain 2.3 grams of product for $25. The claims are that it’s a “full coverage pigment, comfortable matte formula and has a rounded applicator for lining and applying lip color.” The shade descriptions are in order to lightest to darkest and the description in parenthesis is my personal opinion 😉

Left to right: Hudson, Dazed, Bittersweet <3333

Hudson – Deep peach (perfect for every day)
Dazed – Redwood (classic red)
Bittersweet – Swiss chocolate (perfect for the holidays)

My absolute new favorite color in the whole entire world is now Bittersweet, it’s absolutely perfect! Unfortunately the shades Hudson & Bittersweet are new to ABH and is only sold in this holiday trio. But if you are loving the shade Dazed it’s available for individual purchase at its full size.

Sooo my final thoughts….

Gimmicky? Maybe. Worth it? YESSSSSS.

If you love all three shades I say go for it! I think most people will fall in love with Bittersweet because it’s so unique and the formula is perfect which is hard to master for a shade that color. Hudson is perfect for everyday but is a little basic, but hey it’s an everyday color that’s transfer proof and small enough to take everywhere 🙂 Dazed is a classic red, this will definitely be my go-to date night red lipstick since it’s transfer proof! $25 for only 3 mini liquid lipsticks sounds like a lot but considering the formula there’s no question about it 😉

How to diffuse curly hair without frizz

This one is for all my curly/wavy girls out there!

With summer just ending and fall beginning a weather change has definitely occurred and it’s not getting along with my hair 😦

I have only used heat 5-10 times throughout the whole year, I was trying out the “curly girl method.” This method comes with a catch and it’s using no heat- well today I broke this rule and it was 100% WORTH IT. I always let my hair air dry but recently it’s been creating its own frizz and it’s out of control! There is no product that eliminates it or even calms it down- it’s because there is no problem with the product, the problem is with the application. This motivated me to test out the diffuser that’s been hiding underneath my bathroom sink all year!

Step 1: Use your favorite curl cream, gel or heck even both (which is what I chose!) I used my holy grail products: ISO Curl Bounce Cream and BounceCurl gel. Scrunch this into your hair in big sections, the bigger the section the better the curl will be. Scrunching in big sections creates big bouncy weightless curls. Be sure to flip your hair over and scrunch upside down for volume. Don’t be scared to put some gel on the top-mid level of your hair to eliminate frizz.

Step 2: Separate your hair into small-medium sections and place it inside the diffuser, once you get to the mid-upper level of your hair leave the blow dryer on that flat surface. DO NOT move the diffuser, moving the diffuser creates frizz. Once on the desired flat surface, turn the blow dryer on. If you have damaged hair use the low setting, if you have healthy hair you can use the high setting. Regardless of what condition your hair is in, use the cool setting so it won’t cause major future damage to your hair. Also, use a heat protectant spray if you have one 🙂

Step 3: Repeat step 2 until all of your hair is almost dry. Once my hair was getting close I added more product and flipped my hair over and diffused the curls upside down. My hair is straight-wavy on the top and doesn’t get much volume, so I removed the diffuser and flipped my hair over to dry the roots.

Step 4: Add more product if desired. Now you’re done! 🙂

For this being the first real success I had in diffusing my hair, I’m highly satisfied with the outcome. I had ZERO frizz which never happens and it was 97% humid outside and raining the whole entire day! Secondly, my hair is soooo soft it feels and looks like I have no product at all in my hair! I actually had a few people think I had so products in my hair at all- it looks very natural! I won’t do this every day due to potential hair damage but every once in awhile it’ll be worth it, without question! If you have ever wanted to diffuse your hair go for it! Before you plan on it make sure you have about 30 minutes set aside to do it 😉 The downfall is that it’s time-consuming but hey, anything worth it doesn’t come easy!

Listed below is a blow-dryer guide from reviews.com, this guide is extremely beneficial and helps you find the blow-dryer that’s best for YOUR hair type. It even goes in depth on what heat and speed settings should be used for your specific hair type, instructions on how to clean your filter and my personal favorite, how to reduce frizz! 🙂 https://www.reviews.com/hair-dryer/

Maybelline City Mini Palette Review & Demo

I have seen so much hype over the Maybelline City Mini Palettes. I can’t lie, the packaging was very intriguing. It took me months to debate if I should give in and buy it. The palette itself is very small, it retails between $7.99-9.99 and you get 6 shades so the shades are priced approximately $1.33 per shade. I picked up the “Urban Jungle” palette which has various shades of greens. This is perfect for the fall season and would favor those especially with brown or green eyes.

First impressions…

These shades are extremely hard to blend, they have the same formula and consistency of their other eyeshadows. It seems like the same exact thing only packaged in a more appealing and eye-catching pattern. The colors are very beautiful in the palette, but there are two shades that are very similar to each other. The gold shade barley shows up on the eyes. You MOST DEFINITELY need setting spray to make these shades even show up, the dark black shade and the matte green shade are the only colors that actually shows up without it. I would have to say those two performed best on the eyes, but were still hard to blend. The other green/gold shimmery shades did not show up at all with a dry brush or finger. The white shade is extremely powdery and chalky, I thought it looked horrible as a brow- bone/inner corner highlight. The shade is way to pale to begin with, the other 5 colors are warm toned and deep- a champagne or off white color would have been a much better match for this palette. Like I said, I honestly believe they threw shades they already had into this palette. The only unique shade to me was the black that had small green glitter particles in it- but the glitter fades away in short time.

Above are shades on the tan part of my arm and my inner arm, I wanted you guys to see how differently they show up on different skin colors. The pictures above are with and without flash. I attempted to re-create this look and removed one eye with makeup remover and re-set it with concealer, powder and primer. It still did not come out the same, it made the shades even more hard to blend and the gold color didn’t really show up at all- even with setting spray. I’m not sure what the makeup wipe had to do with it exactly but it did not apply the same afterwards.

Final thoughts…

If you can find any of these City Mini Palettes on sale I believe it would be worth it. I personally think these are overpriced for drugstore eyeshadows, there are many better options with higher quality priced the same or even lower. I’ve noticed drugstore brands raising their prices increasingly over time, I thought maybe they were changing the formulas a long with it but honestly most of the products have the same formula and aren’t worth the hype. Comment below your opinion of the Maybelline City Mini Palettes, have you tried this one or a different one?

Fast and Affordable makeup for back to school or work

This is for all my hardworking students and workers out there on a budget! Those no makeup days for summer are now past us and school/work is back in session.

Let’s face it ladies, we don’t have hours to get ready before school and work. Most of us are in a rush and only want to spend 5-20 minutes on our makeup. However, makeup brands are making this harder by consistently releasing new makeup items that create extra steps in our routine. Yes, I’m talking about things like face and eye primers, liquid drops, highlighters, liquid highlighters, palettes, etc.

I recently filmed a Youtube video specifically for this topic, I had all of these affordable eyeshadow palettes in front of me but I just couldn’t choose which one I wanted to use. A lot of us have so many different items that before you know it you’ve already spent 10 minutes trying to figure out what eyeshadow colors you want to use and from which palette!

So as I was filming I got the idea to use the bronzer/blush duo from e.l.f that cost only $4 and used it as my eyeshadow too! I used the bronzer in my crease and the blush on my lid and it came out pretty good. I also went in with a NYX pencil stix to make it more metallic and topped it off with the highlighter that I used for my cheek bones. All of this took a total of 3-5 minutes (if that) and I didn’t have to go searching for my eyeshadow. If your a fan of matte shadows, you don’t have to go in with that last step of using the highlighter on your lid. Or if you’re the opposite and a shimmer lover like me, ❤ you can just go in with the highlighter on your eyes and skip the bronzer/blush.

The highlighting brick I used by Makeup Revolution was only $7 and comes in a layer of multiple colors. The top half is lighter while the bottom half is darker, but all shades are white, pink and brown. I used the lower half as my bronzer and it can even be used as a blush while the white color can be used as the highlight. These are amazing multi-tasking products from the drugstore 🙂 that would make any students life much easier when getting ready!

“No Makeup-Makeup”

So what is the “No Makeup Makeup” trend exactly and does it really look like you’re not wearing makeup when it’s all said and done??

Well today I am putting this to the test.

Since I live in an extremely high humidity environment I usually don’t wear heavy makeup during the summer, but I never thought wearing light makeup would become a trend. Is mascara and eyeliner excluded? Can you still bronze up the face? Are only nude colors allowed? What do most people consider this trend to be??

For years I used to only wear the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer with no liquid foundation and Bare Minerals face powder over it. It actually looked all natural, as if that was really my natural skin. Well it’s sad to say but those days are now over, there came a point where buying $30 concealer every 2-3 months for a college kid just wasn’t in the budget anymore.

I changed over to drugstore makeup where I fell in love with the Maybelline Matte and Powerless foundation, it kept my skin matte but didn’t leave me looking matte. It still gave me a natural, hydrating finish and it didn’t break the bank. I used this in my “No Makeup Makeup look” video along with the aqua water infused bronzer/blush by elf, highlighter, and some bronzy eyeshadow. I made sure to use a bronzy-shimmery eyeshadow close to skin tone to make it all look natural. I did press pressed powder into the face to keep my face from turning into a grease ball throughout the day (I have extremely oily skin and live in the South) do others consider this breaking the rules from a no makeup look?

Is this what you would consider a no makeup look? Do you guys think I achieved this by the video &/or picture?? Please comment down below and share you’re opinion on this trend 🙂 I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Colourpop coming to Sephora!

YES the title is indeed correct, this is not a rumor. I repeat this is not a rumor. I am full of excitement right now and words cannot express it enough. ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

I was hesitant about Colourpop’s formula at first but they have improved so much recently with the consistency of their products. They have been killin’ it this year, they definitely deserve this! I think this will bring them so much more clientele if their prices remain the same (which it is rumored to.)  I have made multiple purchases from them over the years, but with them being in a higher demand recently I have been waiting nearly 2 weeks just for a confirmation of processing for my order.

I put an order in on July 27th for their new “No Filter Concealer” and “pressed bronzers and highlighters”  the email explained that it would take 4-5 business days for my order to be processed since they are in high demand. They actually just responded to me today which is 12 days later people!! 12 days!!! The email did not confirm that my order was processed, instead it stated that there would be a delay in the arrival of my order due to high volume. So I have no idea when my order is coming, I really wanted it ASAP so I can review their new products. But we will see.

So for that reason, I am SUPER stoked that they will be sold in store at Sephora. No more waiting 🙂  It’s rumored that this will all go down in November, which is the good news! Only 2 more months!! Bad news, it’s also rumored that the whole line may not be up for grabs in stores 😦 bummer!

I don’t know about you guys- but I will definitely be at Sephora the day Colourpop items are up for sale. ❤

Too Faced Glitter Bomb Palette Review & Swatches

Let me start off expressing how much I LOVE glitter, I was so excited when I saw that Too Faced was coming out with a palette exclusively for glitter. Don’t get me wrong I love a variety of mattes to add dimension to the eyelid but glitter and shimmer is what always draws me to any look. Sooooo I just had to get this palette despite the limited and somewhat negative reviews.

This palette has a total of 8 glitter shades, mainly cool tones. The blue and purple shades in this palette are stunning and is perfect for a pop of color for the summer season. The white and black shades on the sides are used as a base to make the glitter colors pop. Below are swatches with and without the bases, you pretty much need to use the base if you want the colors to show up as they truly appear in the palette.

The first time I attempted to use this palette I used it without glitter glue and it honestly looked like loose sparkly particles rather than actual glitter. So the next day I raced over to Ulta to purchase glitter glue after watching the Too Faced tutorial on how to actually use the palette, which was a fail on my part for not following instructions. That same night I was so excited to give it another shot and it made a HUGE difference. There was actual pigment, it was extremely shimmery and stood out with the base on my eyes.

I’m not a fan of the lightest colors in the palette, it didn’t really stand out on my eyes even with the base (“fairy dust, rosé all day & confetti”)  I tried “work it” with the white base and it looked great, I also tried it with the black base and that made it really stand out. The other shades are absolutely gorgeous with the black base, my favorites are “glitter goals, splash & hot damn.” The gold-ish shade in here worked out very well and gave off tons of pigment.

The fact that I leaned more towards the cooler shades in this palette surprised me, I always go for the warm tones shades and glittery pinks for the lid but this palette broadened my horizons. The light shades may work out well for some but for me it personally didn’t pan out. There is nothing wrong with these shades at all, they are beautiful and am sure people love them.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Is it really worth it? For a solid $45 I don’t believe it’s worth it if money is tight. I’m not saying it’s a miss but it’s not a hit like I thought it would be. I find that most people are disappointed rather than just not liking it all together. I think the name is a little misleading, even with the glitter glue primer and bases the colors aren’t a true glitter to me, but is rather highly pigmented shimmer shades with small glitter particles. I think if you are a true shimmer lover and wanted to step up your shimmer game and loved every shade in this palette, this would be for you.
