NEW Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Liquid Lipstick Set Review

Each holiday season brands put out numerous holiday gift sets and make it seem like it’s a “deal” or a special that comes around once a year. It leaves many of us wondering, is it a gimmick and is it really worth it?? Well today I am putting one holiday collection to the test! I gave in and purchased the Anastasia Beverly Hills Holiday Mini Liquid Lipstick Trio. I have ALWAYS wanted to purchase ABH liquid lipsticks but haven’t wanted to throw down the money. I’ve known people to swatch them and the swatch is still on their hand the next day… and that’s AFTER showering. Or so they claim, hahaa. Just kidding.

Anywayyyyyy

ABH is known for their liquid lipstick formula consistency and brilliance. Everyone I know is obsessed with them. I’m so fortunate I got a steal, 3 mini liquid lipsticks for $25. Some may not think this is a steal but however, I think it will be. & this is why…..

First off you only need to take the brush out once to get full pigmentation and the formula is long lasting so all you need is one swipe for the whole day. Secondly, the application was sooo easy! The shade bittersweet (my favorite) is a hard formula to master, it’s described as a “Swiss chocolate” but to me has a slight purple/burgundy undertone. This happens to be my favorite lipstick color in general, most lipsticks this color do not have a consistent formula, this, however, was not patchy at all! No second coat was needed as well.

Time to break down what you actually get!

You receive 3 miniature liquid lipsticks that contain 2.3 grams of product for $25. The claims are that it’s a “full coverage pigment, comfortable matte formula and has a rounded applicator for lining and applying lip color.” The shade descriptions are in order to lightest to darkest and the description in parenthesis is my personal opinion 😉

Left to right: Hudson, Dazed, Bittersweet <3333

Hudson – Deep peach (perfect for every day)
Dazed – Redwood (classic red)
Bittersweet – Swiss chocolate (perfect for the holidays)

My absolute new favorite color in the whole entire world is now Bittersweet, it’s absolutely perfect! Unfortunately the shades Hudson & Bittersweet are new to ABH and is only sold in this holiday trio. But if you are loving the shade Dazed it’s available for individual purchase at its full size.

Sooo my final thoughts….

Gimmicky? Maybe. Worth it? YESSSSSS.

If you love all three shades I say go for it! I think most people will fall in love with Bittersweet because it’s so unique and the formula is perfect which is hard to master for a shade that color. Hudson is perfect for everyday but is a little basic, but hey it’s an everyday color that’s transfer proof and small enough to take everywhere 🙂 Dazed is a classic red, this will definitely be my go-to date night red lipstick since it’s transfer proof! $25 for only 3 mini liquid lipsticks sounds like a lot but considering the formula there’s no question about it 😉

NEW Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette Review and Tutorial

The Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette is the definition of a multitasking makeup palette. Though multitasking, 12 matte shades just doesn’t take my breath away.

However….

The quality of the shades are amazing and I’m so surprised at how much you can actually do with this palette.  I’m the first to admit I don’t fall in love with neutral matte shades, but these are not intended to be used strictly for eyeshadow. These shades can be used for shadow, bronzer, BROWSSS and even blush for some. By some I mean me, I have used this as a blush and was in love at how natural it appeared on my cheeks. I get washed out during this time of year but I don’t enjoy “pinky” blushes. It’s definitely the best time of the year to use this palette as blush to add some color to the skin if you’re a fan of neutral colors.

Out of the 12 shades, 6 are 0.035 oz, 3 are 0.070 oz and 3 are 0.21 oz. Most of the shades have a rosy, taupe, grayish or brown tone. This palette is perfect for smokey eye looks and can create both warm toned and cool toned looks. My favorite shade is ember without a doubt- it’s a reddish brown shade. My go-to shade for blush is desert. I used timber as my brow shade which worked, but the red undertone was quite evident on my brows. Next time I will definitely go with terracotta for the brows since it’s a taupe shade. As for bronzer, I use the perfect combination which includes timber, terracotta, and desert 🙂 The shades smoke and stone are a must for any smokey eye, the consistency in all of these shades was incredible. They feel buttery smooth, apply amazing to the eyelid, blend like a dream and last all day.

Final Thoughts….

If you need an all in one palette I would grab this ASAP. This is also perfect for traveling, the mirror is huge and clear as day. One of my favorite aspects of this palette is honestly the packaging, it has a heavy feel, a huge mirror, and feels sturdy like it will last forever. This palette also smells sooooo delicious, I can smell it right now as I’m typing. (: weird to say but the smell just puts me in a good mood lol. The only dislike I have with this palette is the 3 white/cream shades. I wish they would have thrown some unique neutrals or maybe a brick orange in the mix. As I stated earlier, the shades are amazing in quality and pigmentation. The colors are neutral and can come off boring but these are essential crease and transition shades that many people use on a daily basis. I definitely feel this is an underrated palette from Tarte. I love Tarte as a brand as they are cruelty-free 🙂 and the pigment is always there with them!

Maybelline City Mini Palette Review & Demo

I have seen so much hype over the Maybelline City Mini Palettes. I can’t lie, the packaging was very intriguing. It took me months to debate if I should give in and buy it. The palette itself is very small, it retails between $7.99-9.99 and you get 6 shades so the shades are priced approximately $1.33 per shade. I picked up the “Urban Jungle” palette which has various shades of greens. This is perfect for the fall season and would favor those especially with brown or green eyes.

First impressions…

These shades are extremely hard to blend, they have the same formula and consistency of their other eyeshadows. It seems like the same exact thing only packaged in a more appealing and eye-catching pattern. The colors are very beautiful in the palette, but there are two shades that are very similar to each other. The gold shade barley shows up on the eyes. You MOST DEFINITELY need setting spray to make these shades even show up, the dark black shade and the matte green shade are the only colors that actually shows up without it. I would have to say those two performed best on the eyes, but were still hard to blend. The other green/gold shimmery shades did not show up at all with a dry brush or finger. The white shade is extremely powdery and chalky, I thought it looked horrible as a brow- bone/inner corner highlight. The shade is way to pale to begin with, the other 5 colors are warm toned and deep- a champagne or off white color would have been a much better match for this palette. Like I said, I honestly believe they threw shades they already had into this palette. The only unique shade to me was the black that had small green glitter particles in it- but the glitter fades away in short time.

Above are shades on the tan part of my arm and my inner arm, I wanted you guys to see how differently they show up on different skin colors. The pictures above are with and without flash. I attempted to re-create this look and removed one eye with makeup remover and re-set it with concealer, powder and primer. It still did not come out the same, it made the shades even more hard to blend and the gold color didn’t really show up at all- even with setting spray. I’m not sure what the makeup wipe had to do with it exactly but it did not apply the same afterwards.

Final thoughts…

If you can find any of these City Mini Palettes on sale I believe it would be worth it. I personally think these are overpriced for drugstore eyeshadows, there are many better options with higher quality priced the same or even lower. I’ve noticed drugstore brands raising their prices increasingly over time, I thought maybe they were changing the formulas a long with it but honestly most of the products have the same formula and aren’t worth the hype. Comment below your opinion of the Maybelline City Mini Palettes, have you tried this one or a different one?

NEW Colourpop Concealer, Pressed Bronzer & Highlighter Review

EVERYDAY.

FOR ONE MONTH.

A YOUNG WOMAN WAITED FOR THIS PACKAGE TO COME IN THE MAIL.

AND THAT DAY HAS FINALLY COME 🙂

Hi loves! Today I have a very exciting post for you all, I am SOOOO excited! I hope you all are as well (: I have been waiting ever so patiently for a month to receive my most recent Colourpop haul in the mail, I went allllll out for their new collection. I pretty much have everything except for their collabs which I believe were sold out at the time and I am also missing their new amethyst setting sprays which I really wanted to try. 😦

I bought two concealers with the intention to use one for a full face of concealer without foundation so I could test the coverage to the best of my ability and the second concealer I purchased was intended to be used for contouring. After seeing the word “intended” a few times I’m pretty sure you guys get where I’m going here….. My plan simply did go through the way I hoped.

The shades I purchased were light neutral and medium 30. When Colourpop sent the full collection to influencers it appeared to oxidize on camera and many of them had to use lighter shades because of that reason, so during my purchase I bought shades slightly lighter as well. This was not a good idea… the shade light neutral was extremely pale and didn’t get darker on my skin. The shade medium 30 was MUCH lighter than I anticipated it to be and was actually a close match to my regular skin tone, so it would definitely not work out as a contour shade. I ended up using the shade medium 30 as an all around face conceal and light neutral to brighten up under my eyes and conceal blemishes.

These concealers shocked me…

I used the Real Techniques buffing brush to give it a natural finish, when I usually use this technique with foundation it does not cover my blemishes, well this concealer covered my blemishes (a red one at that) while using the buffing brush. I was SO SHOCKED. I then used light neutral on specific areas and under my eye with a flat, dense concealer brush by It Cosmetics and the coverage was amazing! My face was looking pretty pale but the coverage was full just using a $6 concealer, it did not appear cakey, it did not feel heavy, the consistency was out of this world. I don’t want to call it out yet, but this could be a potential dupe for the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer which was literally sent from the heavens! I did a wear test on this for 5 hours and my skin did get oily, but it wasn’t too bad for being outside in humid weather. I’m EXTREMELY IMPRESSED.

The pressed bronzers and highlighters…

Are out of this world. For the amazing price point of $8 you get the most adorable travel friendly (not sized) packaging that includes a decent sized mirror! Sayyy what! The texture and consistency of the bronzer in “Rodeo Drive” was smooth, the formula is amazing and can be compared to a high end product. Rodeo Drive is a cool toned bronzer with a medium red-brown undertone. This easily fixed my pale face and gave me a healthy coloring that matched the rest of my body. The highlighter “Boy Next Door” is described as a “light warm gold.” The shade was absolutely stunning with the bronzer, they sat on eachother so beautifully. When initially touching it, it feels powdery and chalky but on the skin it’s stunning, there are bits of glitter particles but I happen to love that look. I’m sure many people won’t like how it feels but I think if it looks good on your skin- that’s all that matters.

The question I keep asking myself…

Why did I wait so long to try out these amazing pressed eyeshadows? The pigment is extreme! You barley have to tap your brush into the pan and you have a bold color on your eyes that blends like a dream. I KNOW I will save so much eyeshadow because you don’t need much at all. I got the shades (in order pictured left to right) cannonball (a matte burnt orange,) crisscross (a matte brick orange,) popular demand (a matte red-brown), and stay golden (a matte raspberry). I also got a super shock shadow in the shade sequin (a rose penny copper.) I got each shade for $4 ($1 off) and received a free magnetic palette to put my shades in (: I believe they always give a free palette with the purchase of 4 pressed eyeshadows.

Overall 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

I’m beyond satisfied with my purchase, I bought so many things and loved each and everyone of them. I usually don’t like every single item I buy but I loved them all. Even though the concealers were too light I think I can find other ways to put them to use. The formula for everything is amazing and goes well when all used together. If you plan to purchase concealer don’t be afraid to go a bit darker if you have a light-medium skin tone similar to mine, both shades I bought from the light and medium section on their website. I might do another haul soon and pick shades from the medium dark section to match my skin and the dark section for contouring. Please comment your thoughts below and if there are any items that have intrigued you on their website list them below so I could include them in my next haul.

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Collection Wear Test & Review

This OVERLY HYPED affordable drugstore collection has been raved about for months on social media and especially YouTube. Yesterday I put the collection to the test with the face and eyeshadow primer, concealer for brightening and contouring, and of course the foundation. The only thing I did not have from the collection was the setting powder.

The product doesn’t claim to last hours or reduce oil control- which is what I would look for if I wore primer on a daily. But hey, we are not all the same! The claims on the Wet n Wild website is that it” minimizes pores, fills fine lines, brightens complexion, and evens skin tone!” As well as “prevent caking, creasing, and smudging.” I put this to the test with a full 9 hour day of work and running errands. The results…..

I’m not impressed.

While putting this on I noticed right away that it was a full coverage foundation, it hid a few marks on my chin which most foundations don’t do for me. It didn’t look cakey at first……. this changed moments later. I expected it to oxidize after a few minutes but instead it became very pale and cakey looking. The color was much lighter on my face than it appeared in the bottle, I got a medium shade so I was very shocked at this. I don’t dislike the photo focus concealer for brightening under the eye, it’s okay but nothing special and I find it to separate throughout the day even with setting it. One thing I’m not a fan of is contouring with the concealer- it dries fast, is hard to blend and had an orange tint.

I will point out that it looked better on camera than in person, while I was filming I thought it looked decent after I fixed the foundation and concealer with my elf contour kit and makeup revolution shimmer bronzer. Even during my 9 hour check in, the camera did not catch all of the oil and seperation. The foundation claims” light-adjusting complex to help prevent white cast in photo and is tested under 7 light conditions with and without the use of flash.” So the claims aren’t inaccurate, however, the average joe is more concerned about how they look in person than on camera.

Final thoughts….

On my oily skin, it was a huge miss. It separated, was cakey, oxidized hours later, emphasized pores and had no oil control whatsoever. My face felt heavy and extremely slick throughout the day. I do love the eyeshadow primer though ❤ I have used this in the past. This collection is very affordable and accessible with great deals so if you have dry-normal skin, don’t plan to wear this long, or if you’re simply on camera often this may be a great and affordable collection to check out. It just didn’t work out for me but we are all different and can be excellent for some people!

Too Faced Glitter Bomb Palette Review & Swatches

Let me start off expressing how much I LOVE glitter, I was so excited when I saw that Too Faced was coming out with a palette exclusively for glitter. Don’t get me wrong I love a variety of mattes to add dimension to the eyelid but glitter and shimmer is what always draws me to any look. Sooooo I just had to get this palette despite the limited and somewhat negative reviews.

This palette has a total of 8 glitter shades, mainly cool tones. The blue and purple shades in this palette are stunning and is perfect for a pop of color for the summer season. The white and black shades on the sides are used as a base to make the glitter colors pop. Below are swatches with and without the bases, you pretty much need to use the base if you want the colors to show up as they truly appear in the palette.

The first time I attempted to use this palette I used it without glitter glue and it honestly looked like loose sparkly particles rather than actual glitter. So the next day I raced over to Ulta to purchase glitter glue after watching the Too Faced tutorial on how to actually use the palette, which was a fail on my part for not following instructions. That same night I was so excited to give it another shot and it made a HUGE difference. There was actual pigment, it was extremely shimmery and stood out with the base on my eyes.

I’m not a fan of the lightest colors in the palette, it didn’t really stand out on my eyes even with the base (“fairy dust, rosé all day & confetti”)  I tried “work it” with the white base and it looked great, I also tried it with the black base and that made it really stand out. The other shades are absolutely gorgeous with the black base, my favorites are “glitter goals, splash & hot damn.” The gold-ish shade in here worked out very well and gave off tons of pigment.

The fact that I leaned more towards the cooler shades in this palette surprised me, I always go for the warm tones shades and glittery pinks for the lid but this palette broadened my horizons. The light shades may work out well for some but for me it personally didn’t pan out. There is nothing wrong with these shades at all, they are beautiful and am sure people love them.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Is it really worth it? For a solid $45 I don’t believe it’s worth it if money is tight. I’m not saying it’s a miss but it’s not a hit like I thought it would be. I find that most people are disappointed rather than just not liking it all together. I think the name is a little misleading, even with the glitter glue primer and bases the colors aren’t a true glitter to me, but is rather highly pigmented shimmer shades with small glitter particles. I think if you are a true shimmer lover and wanted to step up your shimmer game and loved every shade in this palette, this would be for you.
